Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What if therapy hasn’t worked for me before?

Many of the people I work with have already been in therapy and understand their patterns—but still feel stuck.

This doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It often means the work hasn’t reached the level where those patterns are actually held.

My approach is designed specifically for that.

How is this different from traditional therapy?

This work is more focused, slower, and structured differently than traditional weekly therapy.

Sessions are longer and held biweekly, allowing time for deeper processing rather than ongoing updates.

The focus is on how your nervous system responds—not just what you think or talk about.

Do You Take Insurance?

I am currently in-network with Highmark Blue Shield (through December 2027) and Capital Blue Cross (through December 2026).

Beginning January 2028, my practice will transition to a cash-pay model, and I will no longer be in-network with any insurance plans.

If you are using insurance now, we can discuss how to plan for this transition in a way that feels manageable and transparent.

Fees & Session Structure

As my practice has evolved, so has the structure of how I work.

Beginning January 2028, I will be a private-pay (out-of-network) provider and will no longer be in-network with insurance plans.

My work is now centered around Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), a specialized, brain-based trauma therapy that requires a different pace and structure than traditional weekly talk therapy.

How often will we meet?

Sessions are 80 minutes and held every other week (biweekly).

This allows time for focused work during sessions and space between sessions for your system to process and integrate—so change actually lasts.

Many clients find this approach leads to meaningful progress without the need for long-term, ongoing therapy.

What this looks like

Sessions are 80 minutes and held biweekly at a rate of $225 per session.

Why this structure?

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is not a talk-based therapy focused on ongoing updates or cognitive processing.

It is a focused, nervous system-based approach that:

  • Moves at a slower, more precise pace

  • Works at the level where trauma is actually held

  • Requires time for your system to settle into the work

Longer sessions allow us to move beyond surface-level conversation and into deeper processing.

Spacing sessions biweekly supports integration—giving your system time to process between sessions rather than staying in a constant cycle of activation.

This approach is not designed for ongoing weekly sessions focused on updates.

A Different Approach to Time in Therapy

Because DBR works at the root of how trauma is stored, many clients find they are not in therapy as long as they have been in other approaches.

Rather than ongoing, open-ended weekly sessions, this model is designed to:

  • Reduce the need for long-term, indefinite therapy

  • Focus on meaningful shifts at a foundational level

  • Support progress that continues outside of sessions

Out-of-Network Option

If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company.

Is This the Right Fit?

This structure tends to work best for clients who:

  • Are ready to move beyond insight and into deeper change

  • Can commit to a focused, intentional process

  • Are open to a slower, body-based approach

If you’re unsure, we can always talk through whether this model makes sense for you.

Out-of-Network Benefits

Some insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement for services with a Licensed Professional Counselor.

If you choose to continue care after January 2028, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I recommend contacting your provider directly to understand your specific benefits.

What If You Don’t Have Insurance?

I accept:

  • Credit and debit cards

  • HSA/FSA cards

Sessions are private pay, and payment is due at the time of service.

What Should I Expect at My First Session?

The first session is less about telling your entire story—and more about setting the foundation for how we’ll work together.

We will:

  • Review the most relevant parts of your history (at a pace that feels manageable)

  • Identify what’s bringing you in now

  • Begin orienting to how DBR sessions work

  • Establish a structure that supports deeper, more focused work—not just ongoing updates

Because my approach is different from traditional talk therapy, we focus early on how your system responds, not just the details of what has happened.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start.

Is My Information Kept Confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is taken seriously and your information is kept confidential, with standard legal exceptions (such as risk of harm or mandated reporting).

Who is this work for?

I work with adults (18+) who:

• Have experienced childhood trauma or attachment disruptions
• Feel stuck despite insight or previous therapy
• Experience anxiety, overwhelm, shutdown, or disconnection
• Are open to a deeper, body-based approach

A Note About Fit

This work is different from traditional therapy. It is slower, more focused, and centered on nervous system-level change.

If you’re looking for a space primarily for venting or weekly life updates, this may not be the right fit—and that’s okay.

If you’re ready to work at a deeper level, I offer a structured approach designed to support meaningful, lasting change.
